I am a little sentimental about this place. There are days when I'd love something bigger - more bedrooms, a basement, a fireplace, vaulted ceilings...all kinds of upgrades so-to-speak! But I know in my heart of hearts that it will be hard to leave when the day comes.
We brought Sarah and Gabriel home from the hospital to this house (which means I was ridiculously sick being pregnant twice in this house).
All three of them learned to walk here.
All three of them had their first birthdays here.
We built their first play set here.
Caleb and Sarah learned how to ride a bike on the street in front of our house.
Caleb had his first loose tooth here. He learned to write his name here, learned to read here.
We had our first ER experience with a child as a result of something that happened in this house.
Caleb and Sarah potty trained here. (I hope Gabriel does, too!)
So many things...the list could go on...
But most of all...we just spent time making it our own.
Whether it was painting...or time spent together with each other...
I know it's just a house. There's bound to be another house in my future, because who knows what the future holds. But I know someday, many years from now, I will drive by this place and smile. It holds so many memories for me. I get choked up just thinking about it.

In the far off future, when you do drive by to visit you better come over and say HI! because I will still be here. I didn't start loving my home until the first time we brought Bailee home.
I always wonder why people leave their first homes. Wanting something bigger and better I suppose. However, whenever I talk to people who have "upgraded" there is a longing for that house where they made so many first memories. No one seems to grow old in their homes anymore. It's sad that we chase bigger and better for the sake of bigger and better. We just celebrated our 5 year anniversary as well, and all I can think of is mortgage free in less than 15 more years.
I am loving my first house. Getting to do things with it to really make it look like "me" and all. The bedroom project this week was fun....SO glad mom was here to help!
Our first house (that we owned) was nice. I do miss it some, but mostly I miss Savannah. Since we moved to Texas I'm starting to enjoy our new house. It took a while for it to start feeling like our house. I haven't felt overly tied to a house, per se, but I do get attached to location. If we find ourselves staying in Texas for an extended period of time we'll probably move (meaning being here for more than 5 years).
Oh, to be in a home that long! I hope I hit that mark in this place!;o)
Hi Chrissy. I'm still living in my "first" house 10 years after we bought it. I don't think we thought we'd be here this long but we love it and can't think of a really good reason to move "up". If we did move it would be just as your anonymous commenter said we'd be moving just for sake of bigger and better. I hope we're here until retirement and with a paid off mortgage before that!

I can't say that I miss our first house. We had all of these plans to paint it and upgrade some things and we never did any of it. So we lived in the house with the peach and hunter green walls for a couple of years until we had to move to a different city for my husband's job. What I do miss are the neighbors we had! I couldn't have asked for better neighbors and I miss them terribly.
