In the morning with Sarah...

Sometimes she wears it down, which means I've used a straightener...

Or a tiny bit pulled up in front...

Or I do double braids...

Or try something new...

I have no idea why this is so important to me.  It's not that she looks perfect every day.  I'm not really all that girly after all.  But every day, if it's a school day or church day, I will do something with her hair.

No matter how tired I am, even if baby Leah and sweet Gabriel are fast asleep on a school day while Sarah and Caleb get ready, which means I could sleep in a bit, I will get up and do something.  Maybe it's the time with her.  Maybe it's so she knows I care and want to help her feel pretty.  I'm not sure.

Is this just what girl moms do?  Or some girl moms?  Would she look fine if I just said, "Put a brush through it, you'll look great."  Yes.  She's adorable after all.  But there's just something about doing this for her.

What do you think about spending time with daughters to help them look nice?
What do you do with your daughter?
What did your mom do with you?

I don't have a daughter but if I did I would definatly spend the extra time fixing her hair to make her feel pretty and it would be a good way to have the one on one time. I am sure those mornings are memorys for your daughter that she will always carry with her.

I wish my mom would have had the time to spend fixing my hair when I was young.

A good time to speak love and wisdom into her heart. You're doing a good thing.

I loved spending the time in the mornings fixing both of my girls hair. Now that they are old enough to fix their own hair and don't really want me to do it, I miss that time. So I get really excited when they ask me to help them! :)

I think it's wonderful and it's one of the reasons I wanted a girl! Looking good gives people confidence, and in today's world little ones need all the help they can get with confidence. Besides, when she starts to go solo she'll have an idea of what to do with herself since you were doing it all those years. Although, I wonder if her french braiding will ever rival yours. ;)

I am so frightened by this.... my sisters always did my hair. I am no good at hair. I hope anna doesn't want any cool hairdos!! I think its awesome you do that for her! :-)

I am with you 100% - while not girly at all (should I admit that at 31 I own no makeup myself) I always want Riley & Taylor to have their hair fixed. Sometimes if they are just going to Grandma's they'll get a free day, but I think it's a good lesson to learn that we always want to put our best foot forward and try our best, plus I love those few minutes, especially if they are sitting on my lap :)

Mine just wants the easiest and quickest thing, which is great b/c I don't have time for everything in the morning. Sides back, quick braid (if there's even time for that) or a pony tail and off we go :)
