Do you ever look at an old picture of yourself...
...and you know you don't look 18 anymore.
But you just can't figure out what exactly is different?
Does our life's journey just make us look different? Do my eyes now say that I'm a woman who has endured much instead of a girl who has so much more to learn?
I don't know.
Sometimes I stare at that girl.
And wonder what makes us look so different.

I would have to agree with you on this one.... I often wonder the same thing about myself....
I look at my old pics and all I see is innocence. Looks...I'm not all that different, aside from a few wrinkles. All I can think though is...what a baby I look like!
That girl looks like Caleb!
And that girl has only had sleepless nights that she wanted to have... like sleepovers or parties or whatever... not sleep deprivation from little kids! I think that makes a big difference!
Mrs. Haid--that is the first thing I thought of too. Children and sleepless nights ;o)
I was just thinking the same thing this weekend about myself! I can't figure it out either, but I think you're onto something with the look in the eyes!
Ha! I can totally tell what's different. All of the sleepless nights and anxiety as a new mom wear on a woman! But, we only get more beautiful :)
I think that our minds think we're still that young person, but just this week I've found several white hairs (what?!) and been told, "Well, we're not getting any younger" by somebody at least 10 years older than me. We must have a different perception of ourselves than the world has.
I miss that smile...I think when you have much on your mind the smile is not seen as much..and that happens with all of us...I love seeing you with your kids...you smile!!
