We've Got Tonight

I have literally waited my entire life for this night. You may chuckle, but it's true.

The memories of walking around with a small, children's tape player every day listening to "We've Got Tonight" is actually quite vivid in my mind - my mom and I used to sing it together as a duet in the car. I also knew all the words to "The Gambler" and "Love Will Turn You Around" among others. I grew up with him as a child so-to-speak, and when I got older, I found myself buying some "Greatest Hits" CD's...not to mention his Christmas CD's!

And tonight...I get to see him in concert.

Being the emotional person that I am, I'm sure you can picture me opening this gift at Christmas. Mom placed the tickets in a cute, money-holding envelope. I thought maybe she was giving us a nice "Christmas check" to treat ourselves to whatever we wanted. But when I opened the card, saw the Metro-tix logo on the tickets, and then saw the words "Kenny Rogers in concert"...I literally burst into tears. I was embarrassed for crying, but I couldn't help it. It was just that exciting for me!

So Josh and I are leaving this afternoon for my concert of a lifetime. Perhaps it's not your artist of choice, but I'm guessing you can tell how much it means to me! :o)

What would be your concert of a lifetime?

I'm looking forward to tonight, too! I bet I will know when to hold you, know when to fold you, know when to walk away, and know when to run!

My concert was Alabama when I was in the 5th grade. Enjoy Kenny-he puts on a great show! Also enjoy the evening with your husband.

Have fun. I used to love listening to him too! The Gambler was always my favorite! Take pics if you are able, and share.

Well, you remember me doing the same thing when I got those tickets to see the USA softball team...and of course the part that I would see JENNY FINCH!!!

A concert of a life time...Im not sure. I dont know if I have anyone I love that much.

Tiffany was my first cassett tape but I didnt follow her after that. So, I guess I dont have a concert of a life time possibility.....

I can't think of any concert that would be a "concert of a lifetime." I enjoy them when we have gone, but I am not into any one particular group, I guess. May favorite one was at SBU when Chris and I were in college. Steven Curtis Chapman, his piano, guitar and opening act of Chris Rice (before he made it big). No band, no over the top anything. It was like sitting in the living room with him and just listening.

I don't have a concert of a lifetime, but I did get pretty excited to see New Kids on the Block this past summer.

At a small age of 10, my oldest brother got me tickets to see the Monkees. I still have the dress I wore to that concert. It was so exciting. I did not understand why all of the girls were screaming and fainting at the concert. I wanted to HEAR them sing...It was on Nov 16, 1968. Wow that was a thrill....today...I would love to go to a big praise concert..Mercy Me..Chris Tomblin..and just sing praises to our Lord God Almighty.

I had him and Dolly singing "Islands in the Stream" on record. I played it on my yellow and red smurf record player.

...BUT, I'd rather see Dolly than Kenny.

It's so nice your husband comments...and what a comedian :)

Hope you had fun!
