Some questions to ponder...

If I eat at Sonic, should I tip the person who comes out to give me my food? Is it really tip-worthy? Does it take that much effort to hand me my food at my car as apposed to handing it to me at another fast-food place? Should I feel guilty that I've never tipped a Sonic employee?

I know...deep stuff...

I've never thought that I should tip them either...but...one of the High Schoolers that I know pretty well works there and has on several occasions expressed that she gets very frustrated when people don't tip her...so apparently the employees have been told or expect to be tipped... interesting isn't it?...

They get paid waitress minimum wage, so about 2 bucks per hour.

I think I'll go to the drive-thru from now on. Sorry, tipping for fast food is ridiculous. I'm sorry Sonic gets away with paying $2/hr...maybe someone should challenge that. Their prices certainly don't reflect low wages.

I agree Chrissy! I had no idea they only made 2.00!! That's robbery!!!

That is not the case for Sonics in my town. They get paid normal fast food employee wage - going rate. That is what my HS students tell me.

In my friend's Floridian town, it is not the culture AT ALL to expect a tip. I wonder if its a Missouri thing to be presumptious or to have this as a standard? Shouldn't it be on the menu if they expect car hops to act as servers?
